So if you haven’t heard of or stopped by RGB Lounge in Wicker Park yet, you owe it to yourself to find out what this space is all about. Yesterday, it was a PACKED house – a ton of the co-op members came through to do what they do best and I came through the doors to shoot a few videos of what we do here…including a full music video for the ‘Fall in Luv’ track from Denmark Vessey’s newest album. It’s definitely worth waiting for, so stay tuned on RGB’s blog and on UMG for the video drop.
Anyway, If you HAVE come through to RGB for any one of their art gallery events, you’d already know that there is always amazing artwork draping the walls and even more works in progress just scattered around the space. Before I start shooting anything, I always have to get a good walk-through of the space to see what new pieces are being worked on.
After eventually getting some footage of the art upstairs, I headed down to shoot Denmark in RGB’s newest addition (a full fledged recording booth). If you’ve been around RGB the last couple weeks, chances are you’ve run into Denmark on the grind in the studio or samples from his upcoming release. SO GOOD. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to shoot the first video from the drop.
After I finished up filming Denmark in the booth, I stepped out with Edouard (RGB’s resident photographer) to take a few snaps of the vintage collection that he was shooting.
Seeing Edouard work his magic got me amped to get more filming done so I headed back downstairs to get some action from the print side of RGB. Denmark ran one of his “I’d Rather Be Making Muzik” tees through the press in the middle of some other shirt orders getting printed.
In the meantime, Morris from Equilibrium (and creative director here at RGB) was working on some artwork for an upcoming show, business card designs and printing up some new RGB vinyl. I decided to put the camera down and get started on Denmark’s vid for awhile after that.
Before I knew it, it was getting close to 11pm but all the artists in RGB were still on the grind. Ivan was putting in work on one of his latest creations while Edouard was shooting more of the vintage collection with some models upstairs. When I got to RGB today, I heard that he ended up shooting over 1200 pictures last night. DOING WORK.
Anyway, the point is if you ever need a space to get inspired by other artists on the grind and willing to collab, you should really drop by RGB and say what’s up. The amount of healthy creative that come through the doors here is ridiculous. Whether you are into music, art, photography, video, design, fashion or print, you’ll be able to find a niche in this artist community AND get what you need done (and done right).
