As the glory days of Toyota’s true sports car endeavors grow further away, even identifying the SW20 on the street as a product of the eco-family centered brand has proven difficult. Even amidst shooting Sergey’s 1993 example, onlookers were confused of its origins. One woman in particular was thoroughly convinced it was a race car brought to the streets. Another could only comment “OUCH” as the car swerved and scraped down the road to our next photo spot. Regardless of the public’s growing separation from Toyota’s true sports cars, Sergey took it upon himself to build one that would surely make people aware of the MR2 moniker once again.

After all, Sergey wasn’t exactly new to this platform. In fact, this SW20 would be his third build and, as the phrase suggests, easily his best. Taking years of knowledge, research and wrench time to this once naturally aspirated, Super White II model, he expertly pieced together his MR2 masterpiece – calling upon some very rare parts and a drool-worthy set of SSR SP1 Professors in SBC/Polish finish (in 17×9.5+0 and 18×10.5-5 respectively) to accent a supremely unique macadamia brown w/blue flake paint job.

Inside, his attention to detail continues – wrapping a matching set of macadamia brown fabric around a snug set of Recaro SR3s and onto his door panels. Perfect. As classy and calculated as the car is put together, the sound that bellows from the MR2′s exhaust gives away a far more menacing personality – backfiring some glorious gases into the air and snapping necks as he roars by onlookers. It is a car that so clearly reflects Sergey’s expertise in the SW20 chassis and indeed the charm that we all aspire to achieve one day.
