How Do I Decide?

With as many charities as there are, it's extremely difficult to choose which ones to support, let alone how. At SELFLESS, we try to make it a little easier for you to decide by splitting things up by the kind of influence you want to make and by how readily seen your personal influence may be.

At future SELFLESS events, you will have the opportunity to talk with us one on one to get more information on specific causes that interest you and get the scoop on how you can make a difference. If there's a specific cause you are interested in, involved with or simply don't see on our site, shoot us an e-mail and we'll gladly add it up.

What if I Want to Share My Story?

That would be incredible! Sharing your story is just as important, selfless and brave as it is to be involved in the causes themselves. Of course we will respect if you want to remain anonymous, but we would love to hear from you regardless. There are tons of ways that you can share your story so be creative! We are also readily available to help if you need some creative assistance. Shoot us an e-mail and let's chat!

For those of you who really want to see their help make a difference fast. In regard to what that means in SELFLESS terms, it'd be amazing if you'd join up our cause to help us physically spread the word. Apart from becoming a mover and shaker for SELFLESS, taking the time to look through and support our causes would be a way to do justice in your personal time.

Here are some causes that can see some immediate benefit:

DJ AM Memorial Fund: Helping Those Struggling With Addiction
Pnoy Apparel (Shirt the Kids): Put a Shirt on Poverty
Tom's Shoes: A Pair for You, A Pair for a Child in Need
Causes that arise suddenly (like natural disaster relief efforts and devastating crimes) likely need immediate aid, but the results of these efforts may go unseen for many years. These efforts may be the most publicized of all the "timeline causes", but in no way does that make them less (or more) important than any other.

Here are some causes that fall into this category:

The American Red Cross: Donate & Support Your Cause
Give Life (American Red Cross): Donate Blood
What sort of issues can you contribute towards (and impart real change) during your lifetime? Well unlike the causes that may result from natural disasters, the efforts in this tier are very serious things that 1.) don't often get the media attention they deserve, 2.) affect us subtlely over time and/or 3.) can be going on right underneath our noses and go unnoticed until it's too late.

See real change evolve within your lifetime:

To Write Love on Her Arms: Aid for Self-Injury, Addiction, Depression & Suicide
Love146: Abolition of Child Sex Slavery & Exploitation
Compassion International: Sponsor a Child
The Tap Project (UNICEF): Providing Clean, Safe Water for the World
To really understand the big picture of what these efforts can affect and change, sometimes we need to look well beyond our own lives and onto those of our children (and our children's children). As an individual participating in these causes, you will become part of a system that strives to revolutionize the seemingly unchangeable, stagnant problems that our world has grown up knowing.

Create a New World for New Generations:

Kiva: Loans That Change Lives
350.org: Real Solutions to the Global Climate Crisis
The I-Heart Revolution: Helping People Help More People
